Aimara Magana

Aimara Magana is a talented young oboist from Cuba. She holds a degree in Theories of Music and Oboe from the Manuel Saumell Conservatoire and National School of Arts and went on to study conducting at the High Institute of Arts in Havana. She has also studied conducting at the Hugh Institute of Music in London and obtained a Performance Degree from the Guildhall School of Music. Aimara has recently completed her MMus at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Aimara has performed a number of solo and orchestral pieces throughout the UK and Cuba, including concerts with the chamber music orchestra ‘Solistas de La Habana’, the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Opera, the Guildhall School Symphonia and the Lyrical Theatre of Cuba.

In 2008, Aimara created the Oboe Habana Project for the development of oboe playing in Cuba and as part of the project, has performed various recitals and concerts in Havana.
